The Chapel is the sole remaining vestige of an old hospice for the sick built in 1136, and survives now as the home, since 1963, of the tomb of Jean Cocteau... In 1957, to honour Saint-Blaise, Cocteau chose medicinal plants ("simples") to decorate the interior of the chapel. On the wall he painted magnificent flowering staffs which rise up to the roof like prayers up to heaven. The altar is guarded by angels at Christ's resurrection. Light pours in through the stained-glass windows designed by the Master himself. At your feet is a large slab bearing the name of Cocteau and these simple words of faith: "Je reste avec vous". Audio-guided tours with commentary recorded by Jean Marais.
