No cathedral had been built in France for over 100 years. This ambitious edifice built by the Swiss architect Mario Botta (a tilted cylinder 17 to 34 metres tall and with a diameter of 38 metres, a triangular roof crowned by trees...) completes the new centre of Evry's new town which, on the Place des Droits de l'Homme, has brought together three brick-clad buildings in modern architectural style: the Mairie, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Cathedral.
