In 1991, Kimiyo Foujita donates the last studio of her husband, the Franco-Japanese painter Léonard Foujita, to the Essonne's Conseil Général, which fulfilled the painter's wish by preserving and opening to the public this place of remembrance unlike any other in the Ile-de-France. The small country house in the valley of the Mérantaise was altered by the painter in the early 1960s. In it, the visitor is able to appreciate the intimate atmosphere surrounding a painter of the Paris School. On the top floor, the artist's studio is preserved intact. Brushes, pigments, maquettes and wall paintings (preparatory work for the paintings in the chapel of Notre-Dame de la Paix in Reims) reveal all the rich diversity and secrets of a creative artist. In the presbytery, which serves as reception area, visitors can extend their visit with temporary exhibitions and the works in the reference library.
