Courson is a fine example of the great estates in the Ile-de-France. Château, chapel (formerly the parish church), stables and water tower blend harmoniously into the Romantic parkland. The latter is the work of the greatest landscape designers of the last three centuries and a balancing act between aesthetics and botany. Over the last twenty-five years the exemplary restoration work that has been carried out has enabled the introduction of numerous rare species of trees and flowering shrubs, making it an attractive sight at any time of year. Twice a year, on the third weekends in May and October, it plays host to the Journées des Plantes de Courson (a gathering of nurserymen and professional gardeners from all over the world).
